This is a scene from a gay club I often went to during my twenties. It is full of hidden meanings and depicts the different types of people I encountered there. The centre figure I painted a few years prior and is based on the “Assumption of the Virgin” (1518) by Titan. It symbolises the freedom and joy I experienced after ridding myself from the shackles Christianity imposed onto me and the growing disrespect and hostility I have towards those who responsible for it.
